At 12h30 today, Commissioner Reding, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, will announce the main lines of the data protection reform, in order to review the regulation currently in place adopted in 1995, when the digital situation was far from what we know today...

 

As explained by Commissioner Reding, in 1993, the Internet carried only 1% of all telecommunicated information. Today, the figure has risen to more than 97%. Amazing...

 

After her speech in Munich this week, some of the broad objectives were mentionned: better protection of personal data, simplification of current regulatory framework, right to be forgotten, etc...
