José Carlos Pérez López

I started in 1991 in Intervention, when the Territorial Directorates still existed. Then I spent 22 years as a commercial advisor to SMEs and Local Administrations, and lately I have been collaborating with the not inconsiderable objective of getting paid for what we sell. Let’s see if together we can get the share price to go up (laughs).

On a personal level, I combine my writing with my profession as a father, a risky and unpaid job for which I train by greasing the physical machinery by spending my soles on marathons, saddling up on a bicycle and mistreating badminton shuttlecocks, and acting as a private tutor at home. It’s a pity that this doesn’t give me the same right to holidays as the teachers (laughs).

In my first novel (“El triatleta globero que se forjó una coraza de acero”) I fused my triathlon hobby with writing. After that, I oriented my creations (the last one is “The mystery of the flying jellyfish”) to a smaller audience (children from 10 to 100 years old), with the aim of turning my little ones into great readers. As I have achieved this challenge, I am happier than a dog with two tails; now, to square the circle, I just need to sell as many books as ADSLs and fibre lines I was able to sell in my years as a salesman. But without obsessions, hey, I don’t want to be a mass writer either, mainly because I don’t have in mind to write a bakery manual (I can’t stop laughing).

In addition to the cultivation of the physical and the cultivation of letters I also practice horticultural cultivation in a “little piece” of land we have with those trees from which hang some curious balls with vitamin C. You can’t imagine how good this juice tastes in the morning.

Ignacio del Río

Hi, I’m Nacho.

I love to be a connector of people and teach them how to use technology.
I’m from Leon, but I studied telecommunications in Madrid and here I got my “dual nationality”.

I like technology, but I try not to let it dominate me, even though it is fascinating.

I joined the People department to manage a network and after a few years I discovered that I liked dealing with people more than with machines. So I was delighted.
I believe that people with a technical background can be much more complete by learning personal skills and not just knowledge.

I have been an internal teacher and volunteer for years and I encourage everyone to be part of both groups because they allow you to greatly enrich your work experience in the company. I consider myself an advocate for Telefónica and, of course, I am looking forward to celebrating the Centennial!

On a personal level, I am a father of a large family and I have prioritized work-life balance to enjoy my children. One of my best decisions.
I enjoy bal-folk, playing the bagpipes, climbing mountains and taking life with a sense of humor.

I am a big fan of Einstein’s phrase: Creativity is intelligence having fun.

César Carnicero

My family comes from the empty Spain, from the province of Soria. My parents spent their childhood in two neighbouring villages, now almost deserted.

They emigrated, something common in the 60s and 70s and ended up settling in Madrid where I spent part of my adolescence, returning to the village whenever possible and where I still return whenever I can.

I studied Telecommunications in Madrid, then, not being sure about where to go, I did my “military service” and in the last year of Telecommunications I started studying Physics.

While I was still studying Physics I started working in Telefónica Móviles España in April 1997 in the COR (equivalent to the CNSO) when the TMA 450 was still in service, while Moviline was reaching its zenith and Movistar GSM (the 2G) was just starting to work.

For those of you who are not familiar with it, in 80-81 the TMA 450 also known as Nordic telephony or “0G” was launched for the 1982 World Cup, in 90-91 Moviline was launched to cover the Barcelona Olympics and the 1992 Seville Expo. Finally, in 1995 Movistar appeared.

While first TMA 450 and later Moviline were shut down, mobile telephony exploded, the company grew and so did the Telefónica group.

Then came the internet boom and the dot coms, the Y2K, the 2.5G networks, 3G, 4G and recently 5G.

All spiced up with fixed-mobile convergence, fibre ftth, Imagenio, the Movistar Fusión package and network virtualisation as the main milestones.

In all these years I was “navigating” through the company’s network and services units, learning a lot and from many people. Sometimes with joys and other times with disappointments.

Until arriving at our days in the Development of Business Services and Systems.

Ángel Manuel Molina

I was born in Pamplona (Navarre) on 19/05/1963 and I joined the company, after a few years of studying Industrial Electronics Engineering at University, which I left without finishing because I had to take part in the public examinations, in January 1989 as a contract employee in Alicante at the age of 24. I became a permanent employee in March of the same year with the category of Computer Operator, now residing in Murcia.

I spent a few years working in the RSAN and X.25 network (the beginnings of data transmission at business/commercial level) until 2002 when I moved to the Data Department but in Customer Service at home, paying attention especially to the beginning of ADSL, ISDN, VPN/IP, etc. technology.

In 2007 I passed a call for Internal Plant Manager, also in Murcia and, with the changes of name, I am still here now as Operation Manager in the Head of Maintenance Outside Plant, Operations Department.

Inmaculada Vergara

Born in Madrid, I studied in Alcalá de Henares until I was 21 and then I got scholarships for university studies in Ireland (Limerick), in the United States (MO), in Germany (Oestrick-winkel), and in Munich.

I started as an intern in 2010 at TIWS for one year, moved to TGS Munich, where I spent almost 4 years, then I went to Telefonica UK for almost 2 years, and now I am at “Telefonica Global Solutions”.

A life at Telefonica, full of adventures, especially great colleagues and friends.

José Alberto Román

I joined TdE in the management of the face-to-face channel and previously I was in the project of the TMK Management of the outbound TMK in the Face-to-Face Channel. I supported the management and strategy of the Installers Channel to achieve the objectives set by following and providing all the necessary tools to achieve the objectives set.

I have a Diploma in Marketing and Advertising from the European Institute of Communication and Marketing of Madrid (I.E.C.M.).

José Manuel Maestro

Madrileño by birth and Leonese by heart since I grew up and lived there until I had to leave for studies. I am a Telecommunications Engineer, specialising in sound and image.

My career has developed mainly in the world of what we nowadays call unified communications in 3 stages. I started at Unitronics Communications as a videoconferencing engineer carrying out projects and providing after-sales support for 6 and a half years, more or less.

The second stage, working for NTT, was as an on-site engineer at Airbus Defence and Space for almost 11 years. At that stage I started as team leader of the videoconferencing team and after 5 and a half years I had the opportunity to move to the voice team. I started as an L1 engineer focusing on end-user support: with experience I moved up to L2 profile performing more infrastructure-focused operational tasks.

The third stage started in June 2022 when I joined Telefónica Tech, within the technology and cloud operations department. My day-to-day work focuses on Webex and Zoom technologies.

I am not a person with complicated tastes or hobbies. I really like music ranging from The Beatles, The Doors, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Nacho Vegas, Los Enemigos or Los Planetas. I think that few plans can beat a concert. I also like sport a lot. Mainly to watch football and to practice athletics. I run 3 or 4 days a week to set myself the goal of running a couple of half marathons a year, one of them the Movistar. Will I take the leap to the marathon?

I’m also a very family-oriented person. When I can, I like to escape to Astorga or León to visit my family and friends.
