Telefónica will be actively participating in the One Young World summit taking place this week in Bogotá to promote the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Alfonso Gómez Palacio, CEO of Telefónica Colombia, will be participating in the session “How can young people prepare themselves for jobs that don’t exist anymore?“, in which various leaders will be discussing the impact of automation in professional life.
In addition, Telefónica will be sending a delegation of young professionals of different nationalities, so that they can share their experiences and contribute to improve the world. Last but not less important, the company will be the technological ally of the annual summit.
One Young World is the annual summit in which world leaders get together with young people from over 190 countries to discuss, develop and share innovative solutions to the urgent problems facing the planet.
Bogotá, which will be the first Latin American city to hold the second largest youth meeting after the Olympic Games, will – from 4 to 7 October – welcome 1,300 young talents from companies, NGOs, universities and other organisations. During the conferences, topics such as the following will be discussed: I) Peace and Security; II) The Environment; III) Education; IV) Leadership and Governance; and V) Reducing Poverty.
Telefónica has accompanied the event since its inception, with the participation of young leaders who believe that technology has a great impact in society and in generating opportunities.
Telefónica believes in and remains firmly committed to complying with the SDGs, since they are the allies they use to help them build, all together, a better world where no one is left behind.
Telefónica’s wager on technological and digital transformation is embodied in SDG 9, which consists in “building resilient infrastructures, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and encouraging innovation”. This is Telefónica’s main SDG, the one we have the most impact on.
