Chema Alonso

Chema Alonso is a member of the Executive Committee of Telefónica S.A. since 2016 and currently holds the position of Chief Digital Officer of Telefónica. In this position he leads Innovation, Data, Platforms, and Digital Products and Services, leading the digitalization strategy of the sales processes of products and services, as well as the channels of customer relationship with the company. 

As head of this Global Unit, he also aims to promote innovation in new digital products and services, as well as in the generation of internal efficiencies supported by the technological capabilities of big data and artificial intelligence of Telefónica’s fourth platform (Telefónica Kernel), with a special focus on the digital home. With a long track record in innovation, he is also responsible for innovation in Telefónica’s core technologies, as well as Telefónica’s relationship with the entrepreneurial ecosystem under an open model of cooperation. 

PhD in Computer Security from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Technical Engineer in Computer Systems from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The latter institution named him Honorary Ambassador of the University School of Computer Science in 2012. Cross of Merit of the Civil Guard with White Distinctive. Awarded for 14 years by Microsoft as Most Valuable Professional (MVP).
