Join tomorrow the Online debate on technology organized by European Voice

Tomorrow the European Voice is organising an online debate on technology, asking:In the era of big data, relying on informed consent for data privacy is illusory.

From 10-18 July, speakers and guests will defend their views and present arguments for and against the motion. Join us tomorrow on to vote and share your view.

For the motion

Joe McNamee

executive director, European Digital Rights (EDRi)

Advances in technology that allow massive amounts of data to be analysed have fundamentally changed the nature of personal data, Privacy risks are no longer generated by the fact that some companies have data that you have given to them

Against the motion

Alex "Sandy" Pentland, MIT professor

Effective informed consent in complex, difficult-to-predict situations is not an illusion, it is standard practice. For decades every developed country has a well-functioning informed consent process for participants in scientific research despite the fact that outcomes of the research are often very uncertain

Chema Alonso

Chief Data Officer, Telefonica.
