Chile was the first country in Latin America in which Telefónica began to operate, specifically in 1989. Today, the Telefónica Group in Chile has become a successful provider of telecommunications services (broadband, digital TV and voice) and it has reorganised its corporate structure, culminating in the process of unification of the commercial brands under the Movistar name in October 2009.

During 2015, Telefónica Chile consolidated its leadership position in the market, highlighting the progress made in the high-value segments. Thus, in the fixed business, especially noteworthy as the expansion of the pay TV business and the progressive adoption of high-speed broadband plans and, in the mobile business, the focus on acquisition and retention of higher-quality customers.

Some of the main figures:

  • At June of 2017, Telefónica had more than 12.1 million accesses in Chile.
  • With regard to the financial figures, Telefónica's revenue in Chile stood at 538 million euros and the OIBDA was 165 million euros in the second quarter of 2017.
