How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I joined Telefónica in September 2010, so it’s almost 14 years. From the very first moment in strategic projects, and if I think about it I would divide it into 3 phases: a first phase dedicated to the B2C segment in marketing in Telefónica Venezuela; a second phase in the global team in Madrid very focused on SME marketing; and a third very exciting phase focused on the company’s digital strategy with TTech, strengthening alliances with the most relevant partners in the technology market throughout our footprint.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?

I have been lucky and a few come to mind, but there is one that became a professional and personal challenge just before the pandemic in 2020. We launched a project called “Inside Sales” in Spain, Germany and Brazil in which we were already using Artificial Intelligence through machine learning to identify potential customers in SMEs and thus propose an offer to digitise them.

It was a multidisciplinary and multicultural project in which I not only learned a lot, but it was also very nice to see how it all took on a lot of relevance and was of great help to those companies that had already embarked on the world towards the cloud, in fact, the data on digitalisation in 2020-2021 show it, they grew X5.

What are your expectations for the company’s Centennial in 2024?

I hope that we will continue to expand our Value Proposition hand in hand with the best technology partners in the market, and in this way, continue to strengthen our customers’ businesses and increase our contribution to society.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society in these almost 100 years?

Telefónica has contributed a lot to society, not only in Spain, but in all the geographical areas in which we have expanded. But it is true that there is one milestone that has always seemed interesting and differentiating to me, and that is Telefónica’s communications station in Buitrago de Lozoya (Madrid) and the essential role it played in the arrival of man on the moon in 1969, as it served as a connection between the Robledo de Chavela station and the Greenfeld station in the United States.

Where do you see Telefónica in the next 100 years?

A very debatable answer, but they say that, in 100 years, the Earth could exhibit a radically different landscape, shaped by unprecedented technological and scientific advances: there will be 3D printed food, cities under the sea, smart cities that integrate renewable energies and autonomous transport systems, trips to Mars… Telefónica will undoubtedly be there, as it has been in all the transformation of these first 100 years.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

I was almost born with it, I can’t see myself without a mobile phone… but I’m sure that soon there will be another type of device.

Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

Without onion, although it is better with onion.
