How long have you been at Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I took my first steps at Telefónica in 2021 in the Digital Public Policy department through the Talentum Scholarship. From the beginning, I was welcomed as part of the team and they supported me in my training and future development. However, it was not until last year that I finally joined the company in the area of Digital Public Policy, Competition and Regulation. I consider Telefónica to be a company that is committed to young talent and that pursues innovation both digitally and in ideas, providing great opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly satisfied with or proud of?

Since I started working in my current department, I have been looking for new ways to bring the company’s positioning on digital and technological issues to a wider audience. Public policy and regulatory position papers often touch on complex issues that not everyone is familiar with.

To facilitate understanding by the general public, I proposed the initiative of creating a series of short videos to accompany these documents, conveying the company’s main messages in a simplified and visual way. My assessment of this project is entirely positive. On the one hand, I have been able to delve deeper into the main strategic issues of the area. On the other hand, it has allowed me to meet and work with wonderful people beyond my department, such as the Estudio 24 team.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

In my opinion, Telefónica is a company that strives to innovate continuously to deploy increasingly sustainable networks, reducing its environmental impact and contributing to the objectives of decarbonisation. It also offers state-of-the-art digital and connectivity solutions to different sectors that enable them to optimise their activity and make more efficient use of resources.

In this sense, the company has an enabling effect on other companies to contribute to their sustainable development. Personally, given my concern about climate change and other environmental problems, I consider the company’s contributions to be particularly relevant and I am confident that Telefónica’s activities and initiatives will contribute to meeting these challenges.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

I imagine a future where everything is connected, where projects such as Smart Cities, Smart Factories, Smart Buildings and Smart Vehicles are not just isolated innovative projects, but a generalised reality that opens the door to a more efficient and secure future, favouring sustainability, inclusion and social well-being. In this scenario, I see Telefónica not only as a company that participates in the creation of this new future, but also as a catalyst for change.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

I could go for a while without using it, it doesn’t hurt to disconnect from time to time, but I couldn’t live without my phone. Being able to communicate with my loved ones at any time or place is a privilege I would not be willing to lose.

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

With onion. Onion goes well with everything to add a bit of flavour.

What crazy idea would you like Telefónica to do for its centenary?

My proposal would be to do a drone show at night. The lights from the drones could mimic the explosion of fireworks and draw iconic elements of telecommunications. At the end of the show, I imagine the Telefónica centenary logo lit up in the sky by the drones.
