The official presentation of Movistar Estudiantes’ 2026-27 season brought together players, coaching staff, academy teams, sponsors, institutions, media representatives and fans this Monday at the Espacio Movistar in the Telefónica Building. Held on Madrid’s Gran Vía, the event marked the start of a new chapter for the club, shaped by a new institutional era and a message that will accompany the team throughout the season: Indestructibles.
Hosted by José Ajero and Iyi Martín, the presentation began by looking back at the club’s recent history. One of the highlights of the event was a tribute to Jayson Granger following his retirement from professional basketball. The Uruguayan player arrived at Ramiro at the age of 15, developed through the club’s academy and made his ACB debut wearing the Estu jersey before going on to enjoy a long and successful national and international career. Movistar Estudiantes honoured his legacy and connection with the club with a special video and his appearance on stage.
The event also paid tribute to those who have led the club in recent years. Ignacio Triana and Vicente Olivenza, Movistar Estudiantes’ principal shareholders during the past seasons, were recognised for their commitment to and involvement with the club.
The presentation then moved on to the unveiling of a new institutional phase for Movistar Estudiantes, led by its new majority shareholder, Diego Megía, who addressed attendees to share the vision for this new chapter while highlighting the club’s identity and values.
On the court, three senior teams will take centre stage this season. The Women in Black begin a new Liga Femenina Endesa campaign under head coach Isaac Fernández; the men’s first team, guided by Toni Ten, prepares for another season with ambition and determination; and the men’s reserve team embarks on a historic journey with its debut in Segunda FEB following promotion last season. Captains and coaches from all three teams also took to the stage to share their goals and expectations ahead of the new campaign.
The club’s present and future are equally rooted in its academy. During the event, Movistar Estudiantes honoured the players who won a total of eight international
medals with Spain’s national teams across various age categories this summer. Ada Toribio, Adriana Díaz, María Teresa Ntutumu, Luna Segovia, Sofía Pinillos, Ana María Hernanz, Abel Amón and Miguel Ángel López were recognised for their achievements during an outstanding summer for the club’s youth programme.
And throughout the entire presentation, one message remained at the heart of the event: Indestructibles. The club unveiled the making-of video of its new crest, forged from 500 kilograms of ballistic steel, a symbolic piece created to represent resilience and the Estudiantes identity. The image encapsulates the spirit of the campaign: setbacks are part of the journey, but what truly makes Estu indestructible is its people, from academy players and professional squads to families, employees, sponsors and supporters.
Rafael Fernández de Alarcón, Brand Director at Telefónica S.A., stated:
“At Telefónica, we embrace the clear challenge of becoming the best gateway for citizens to access digital technologies. However, that commitment goes beyond connectivity and innovation. We strive to be a company that is socially and culturally engaged, capable of supporting initiatives that connect with people and create a positive impact on society. The Indestructibles campaign reflects precisely those values. The new crest, forged from 500 kilograms of ballistic steel, symbolises the strength of a community whose true power lies in the people who make it up and ensure that the spirit of Estu endures from generation to generation.”
