How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I have been with the company for 18 years and I can say that Telefónica is a fundamental part of my history. In all these years, I have been able to develop professionally in the different areas in which I have worked and especially where I am currently working. For me, Telefónica is a big family and wherever I have gone, I have found a warm and professional group of people.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly satisfied with or proud of?

The first is Telefónica’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint, because it is a huge project with a great impact on both the company and society. I think it represents the company’s vision of providing a quality service, while also valuing people’s lives and the future. Also the fibre deployment project in Latin America, to reduce the technological gap and increase digital inclusion. And finally, I have been a great admirer of Campus 42 since I met it personally in Madrid, and the possibility it offers to build a bright present and future for many people.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

Telefónica provides the necessary tools for the development of society, in the present and always looking to the future. Without technology. Without technology, constant innovation and its social commitment, it would be very difficult indeed. Personally, I know families with generations of Telefónica employees. In Argentina, it has been and is one of the fundamental companies for economic and social development. In 2022 I had the opportunity to talk to colleagues from different operations (as a result of Universitas’ Power of Connections) and I was able to reaffirm what I am telling you: in every country Telefónica is an active part of society.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

I see it providing new solutions, even those that we still can’t measure. Because it is always one step ahead, looking at what is coming, asking itself how it can help connect people. If we think back a hundred years, those who came before us could not even imagine what we are living through. I hope Telefónica does not lose its avant-garde essence.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

Today it would be very difficult for me. I can disconnect, but it is really very connected to all the activities I do.

Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

I know that in Spain this is a crucial question, so please excuse me but I prefer it without onion.

Suggest a crazy idea you would like Telefónica to do for its 100th anniversary

Raffle or travel competitions to get to know other buildings, operations, Telefónica colleagues around the world as ambassadors of their countries.

  • Unexpected recognition: employees could vote for a person to be recognised for their professional work and human qualities.
  • The Telefónica forest: each employee can be asked to plant a tree to commemorate the centenary and upload a photo to Workplace/Linkedin telling which tree it is and why they decided to plant it. The tree with the most votes receives recognition or a centenary award. Another option is to create a specific green space where employees plant trees for the centenary.
  • Telephone stories: a book where employees from different parts of the world tell an unforgettable story within the company.
  • Back to the future: a challenge where you have to upload a photo of yourself dressed as you were in 1924 and commenting that you have to travel to 2024 to be xxxx (the task you currently perform).
