How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I really have the feeling that it was only yesterday when I joined, although looking back on 2024, it was ten years ago. I joined as an intern in 2014 in radio optimisation management where, since then, I have had the opportunity to experience first-hand the evolution of the different mobile technologies. I remember that when I joined, mobile radio access network optimisation was focused on 3G and 4G networks, but today 5G is already a reality that is present in many aspects of our daily lives. As well as allowing me to learn day by day from all my colleagues in the technical field, these ten years at Telefónica have also allowed me to develop on a more personal level.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?

It is very difficult to choose a specific project because, over the years, the mobile network has undergone a great evolution. We have participated in very challenging projects to provide coverage to large customers, in the deployment of 5G accompanied by the gradual shutdown of second and third generation networks, projects to provide capacity solutions for certain events… all of them always with great teamwork that makes you feel proud of the results obtained!

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

Among many other things, the power to connect people. Communications have always been fundamental and Telefónica is at the forefront of all the advances and changes that allow us to be connected at any time and from anywhere in the world. A clear example of this was during the pandemic, when we spent several months in which communications became essential: thanks to them we worked, we were able to relate to our family and friends, we entertained ourselves… Telefónica was able to adapt its network to this situation and thanks to it, despite the distance, we were able to be together during all those months of confinement.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

I have no doubt that in the future Telefónica will continue to lead the way in the deployment of new technologies and the development of new use cases.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

I don’t think it’s something that has ever crossed my mind. Nowadays, mobile devices have practically become an extension of our body that, in addition to communicating with each other, allow us to carry out many of our daily tasks. The problem is that lately we live in an era in which we seem to forget to live that day-to-day life and in which everything has to be observed or captured through a screen. I think we should start by finding the balance between “being connected” and “disconnecting from our lives” by abusing our smartphones.

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

I don’t understand where the dilemma lies… the potato omelette always has onions! Otherwise… it’s not a potato omelette. And if it can be on a terrace in the sun and with good company… all the better!

Suggest a crazy idea that you would like Telefónica to do on its centenary

After the previous question, all I can think of now is a gastronomic day of potato omelette pinchos.
