Biodiversity in the Telefónica District: a walk around the central area of the pond

In this article we are going to learn about the biodiversity that exists in the offices of Telefónica's headquarters, and we are going to divide our study into the four squares that make up the District.

Some of us are very lucky, we work at Telefónica, in Madrid and in a privileged location. We began our visits to the different gardens in the central area of the pond.

We start the walk just at the corner next to the end of the ramp coming from the South square. In this first area we can see: a Tulipero (Liriodendron tulipifera), several specimens of Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua), several feet of Red Plum (Prunus cerasifera var pisardii), two specimens of Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) and a Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum).

From the water channel to the corner we can see: two specimens of Swamp Cypress (Taxodium distichum), a Red Plum tree (Prunus cerasifera var pisardii) and a specimen of Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua).

We continue on our way to the north square close to the pond. From the corner to the first stone staircase we can see: two feet of Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), four of hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) and a Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua).

Between this staircase and the central staircase we can see: half a dozen leafy specimens of Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua), two of Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum), two of Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) and another two of Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), and the imposing and striking Weeping Willow (Salix babilonica).

Between the central staircase and the next staircase are four specimens of Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua), a Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) and a Red Plum (Prunus cerasifera var pisardii).

Between the last staircase and the corner, there is a specimen of Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua), Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), Red Plum (Prunus cerasifera var pisardii) and Swamp Cypress (Taxodium distichum).

We turn left and after passing the water channel we can see up to the edge of the pond the following species: Magnolia (Magnolia x grandiflora), Swamp Cypress (Taxodium distichum), Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua), Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) and the second Weeping Willow (Salix babilonica).

The only thing left to do is to go down the ramp and look out over the beautiful view of the pond with the large representation of trees in the background.
