But what makes

the Internet

Work?

The Internet seems magic but it is made of

Wires (fiber&cable)
Waves (mobile&satellites)
Technology (servers&devices)

and is constantly growing in capacity

Over the last 5 years

Telefónica has invested

more than 45 billion Euros

Representing

€ 25 million every day...

More than

€ 1 million per hour

This effort is just part of what we do to give access to

digital life for everyone

And for this

Mobile

technology &

capacity are key

If we want to be connected everywhere and at all times, we need to:

Make more  spectrum available for mobile broadband
Create smart tax policies
Foster digital innovation & research
And when we build these networks, we want them to be accessible for everyone

When we say accessible, we mean:

Affordable Services and Devices
Open Innovation and inclusive Services
Diverse Local content and talent

AFFORDABLE DIGITAL ACCESS

The cost of Internet access is constantly getting cheaper and is in many of our markets already below the cost of a coffee or a metro trip
Less than 0,50€ per day
info

Open and Diverse And the good news is we go even further

Developing local start-ups, talent & content
Delivering special services for special people

Our commitment is to connect everyone.

Iquitos: Connecting the heart of the Amazon

Iquitos is located in the Amazon jungle, in the east of Peru. It´s a beautiful wild place, but difficult to connect with the rest of the country.

Since 2014, thanks to extensive communications infrastructure development including more than 30 3G base stations and an optical fiber network, Telefónica connects more than 430,000 people to the rest of Peru and the global Internet, where they are sharing their culture and wealth.

This infrastructure enables people in the the city to have access to Internet and to voice communications. The development of broadband access in the Amazon brings huge opportunities for people, their businesses, their education and health. #Iquitosconectado
