BE-terna, a company belonging to the Spanish telecommunications group Telefónica, today announced the launch in Germany of an adaptable ERP solution that will allow suppliers in the automotive sector to choose and implement only the capabilities they need for their operations. In this way, BE-terna is helping to boost the sector’s operational agility and efficiency, whilst advancing its aim of becoming the best gateway to digital technologies by offering more and better services to customers.

This solution from BE-terna is based on the cloud-based ERP system ‘Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central’ and enables suppliers in the automotive sector to move beyond the limitations of large, traditional ERP systems and opt for a model with less technological complexity that is easier to maintain and scale within organisations.

The solution currently offers three pre-configured ERP functionality packages to help suppliers optimise key processes in the automotive sector, such as sales management, electronic data interchange (EDI) and packaging management.

The sales module includes features designed to manage framework agreements with customers, plan delivery schedules and track the status of orders in detail. Meanwhile, the EDI module provides suppliers with the systems needed to streamline the electronic exchange of data in accordance with the VDA standards used by the automotive industry to define how quality processes should be managed.

Finally, the solution also offers a third module of features for packaging management, designed to optimise the control of handling units. This functionality supports customised packaging structures and ensures batch traceability, providing greater control over material flows and facilitating compliance with the sector’s specific quality and tracking requirements.

Jürgen Leu, Business Line Manager at BE-terna, part of Telefónica, states: “At Telefónica, we face the challenge of becoming the best gateway for citizens, businesses and institutions to access digital technologies. With this new solution, which allows automotive suppliers to choose the ERP functionalities they truly need for their operations, we are helping them to cope with growing cost pressures, the increasingly stringent requirements of original equipment manufacturers – relating, for example, to the efficient exchange of electronic data and traceability standards – and growing international competition.”
