26,000 Venezuelan university students trained by “Movistar va a la Universidad”

This May, “Movistar va a la Universidad” celebrated its third anniversary training some 26,000 Venezuelan university students in areas such as telecommunications, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

“Movistar va a la Universidad” is a social program led by the same Telefónica Venezuela employees that intend to offer additional training to students in the ICT field. It involves a group of 400 professionals that have taken on the challenge, with dedication, commitment, and pride, of training the next generation in key material for their professional development, such as technologies, finances, regulatory affairs, market tendencies, customer service, and entrepreneurship.

The success of this Telefónica initiative is founded precisely in the fact that the educators are involved in day-to-day business. They do not only offer a conceptual theoretical framework, but also transmit their professional experience. Indeed, the valuable wealth of information from the company employees involved in this initiative contributes to further deepening the Telefónica commitment to practical, efficient, and productive education as the axis for social and technological development in Venezuela.

Since its creation, “Movistar va a la Universidad” has visited 60 public and private universities, in 10 Venezuelan states, where it has given more than 330 talks. “Movistar va a la Universidad” has had a highly positive impact and has served as an example for its promotion in other countries where Movistar is present. Just last July the initiative was initiated in Panama, whose first session took place at the Santa Maria la Antigua University (USMA) with the conference “Evolution of Telecommunications”.
