Can we insert volumetric video on a immersive web? Can we store and render it using general-purpose data exchange structures?

In the Metaverse area of Telefónica Digital Innovation we want to show our journey through the technical validation of the insertion of volumetric video in immersive experiences. As you will see, this journey is composed of hypotheses to validate and experiments or prototypes, which are a key tool when developing feasibility studies, essential in the constitution of any project.

This exploration arises with the motivation of adding new functionalities and experiences to our Metaverse products such as . For now we will try to generate some knowledge bases of these technologies that allow us to later propose new experiences and/or products.

Can we insert volumetric video on a immersive web? Can we store and render it using general-purpose data exchange structures?

These will be the first sub-hypotheses that we will try to validate. As you can see, our validation process consists of:

  • Generating a tree of hypotheses
  • Defining what are the tasks to be performed and the requirements that have to be met to validate them.
  • Getting to work.

Finally, we draw our conclusions from the validation process in the form of results, validation proofs and acquired knowledge.

What have we learned along the way?

We cannot finish the post without talking about the third-party solution we are exploring, which is the Evercoast SDK, so don’t miss the last demo and the conclusions of this technical validation journey.
