Disability

In order to become an accessible company our strategy focuses firstly on our customers and society and secondly on our employees.

We are convinced that access to the digital world is essential for improving the lives of more than 1,000 million people with disabilities and their families, a market which accounts for about 5.8 billion Euros, according to the report by Chris Lewis titled “Accessibility for the Disabled in the Increasingly Mobile World: The Untapped Billion”. Moreover, one of our main objectives is to guarantee an accessible working environment and offer equal opportunities to all the collectives which form part of the Telefónica team.

With the aim of making all our products and services accessible to all our customers, we take into account the attributes of “Design for All”, starting with the design, the initial stage of development.

“Design for All” is a concept integrated into our whole value chain, by means of training, testing and development initiatives, in which we have experts in matters of accessibility.

Our collaboration with related associations helps us to understand the needs of those groups of people with disabilities and to improve accessibility to all our offices, service channels, products and services...

For example, we rely on the GARI initiative, which provides information on the accessibility features of many of the terminals available in the market.

SERVICES FOR ALL

Telefónica does not wish to confine itself to offering specific services for these collectives, and instead aims to make each of its products and services more accessible so that they are convenient for all their users, with the involvement of all the stakeholders in the process, including the manufacturers. It is a working model based on sustainable innovation which seeks beneficial developments for both businesses and people.

As a result, Movistar has classified its catalogue of mobile devices in Spain under accessibility criteria. The company uses icons to identify the best devices for overcoming visual, hearing, cognitive and manual difficulties.
