Sergio Sánchez Gallego
CTIO Spain

Born in Malaga, Spain, in November 1972.
Sergio Sánchez has become member of the Group’s Executive Committee in October 2026 as Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO) Spain.
He joined Telefónica in 2000. During his initial period at Telefónica Móviles S.A., which lasted until 2006, he participated in the launch of telecommunications operators in Morocco and several Latin American countries. In 2007, he moved to Telefónica Internacional and, in 2008, he assumed the direction of Voice, Long Distance and International Roaming for Latam.
In 2012, he joined Telefónica España, where he held various leadership positions in the Consumer Business commercial organization, as well as in Operations and Network areas.
In 2019, he joined Telefónica España’s Management Committee as Director of Transformation. Since then, he has held several roles within the Committee, taking responsibility for Consumer Marketing & Sales in 2021 and for Operations, Network & IT in 2023.
Prior to joining Telefónica, he worked as a R&D Engineer at Alcatel and participated in the launch of the telecommunications operator AMENA.
Sergio Sánchez holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from University of Málaga and has completed the General Management Development Program (PDD) at ESADE.
