Tell us a little about yourself. What does your job at Telefónica involve?

My main job is to make the team’s day-to-day work easier, from getting projects off the ground to dealing with all areas of the company to make it very easy for them to close projects in my case or in any IT vertical. Negotiating and building close relationships with wholesalers and manufacturers to consolidate our joint strength and be unbeatable in the competitive market we live in.

How would you define the role of an IT sales manager or sales director in the Information Technology sector?

I understand the role of an IT sales manager or sales director in the IT sector to be a strategic and leadership role responsible for driving the company’s revenue growth through the sale of IT solutions, products and services.

What are the main functions they must perform?

  • To achieve this, we must define a short-, medium- and long-term strategy, where we are and where we want to go to achieve our essence and objective. Manage the team from recruitment to training and continuous qualification and manage the most beautiful thing… their motivation!
  • In a second phase, establish individual objectives that achieve the collective objective, analyse the individual and collective pipeline on a weekly basis and understand each operation to try to replicate the successes in the rest.
  • And a final point of absolute relationship with manufacturers and partners who are vital to the success of the projects.

What professional profiles are dedicated to this?

I believe that the most powerful profile is someone who feels passionate and strongly about technology. Someone who believes in what they do for their team and individually, and a dreamer who is capable of wanting the impossible in order to make a difference. This commercial and technically passionate profile is ideal.

What skills should people in this profession have?

Passion, strength, drive, boundless ambition, empathy, relationship, patience, composure.

To what extent does the evolution of new technologies affect this profession?

It continuously affects evolution and improvement. In technology, it is impossible to say that we are already Ready; we evolve, learn and change continuously. Feedback and reinvention must be in our blood, and it is something we love because we never stop learning.

Which people working at Telefónica would you nominate for this interview who you consider to be excellent at their job?

Antoni Marco, Joel Masferrer and Adrián Prieto Susial.
