The financial markets are one of the main levers responsible for the development of Corporate Social Responsibility in companies.In recent years, the creation of corporate social responsibility indices have been of significant benefit to the progress of Corporate Social Responsibility. Good management of intangible assets has therefore become a differentiating factor for attracting new investors.
In 2008, Telefónica once again applied the concept of responsible investment in the following two ways:
- Firstly, Telefónica was analysed by investors who wished to invest their funds based on corporate social responsibility criteria. In 2008, Telefónica was listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) for the fifth consecutive year and on the FTSE4Good Index for the seventh year. In addition, Telefónica was also listed on the FTSE4Good Ibex Index, the first sustainability index in Spain
- In addition, the Telefónica Employees' Pension Fund (which is managed by Fonditel) applies Corporate Social Responsibility criteria in some of its investments.
