Suppliers

Telefónica is a growth engine in the markets in which it operates, and approximately 70% of its purchases are from local suppliers. The Telefónica Group tries to build supplier relationships based on confidence and mutual benefit.

In 2008, the Telefónica Group managed total purchases worth 26 billion € off more than 30,200 suppliers.

As part of the framework for the Responsable Purchasing project, weak points identified in the course of the evaluation processes and audits are then strengthened in training given to suppliers. And finally, Telefónica has the Purchasing from Social Suppliers rule, that allows these suppliers to offer their services to Telefoníca under advantageous conditions.

For the past ten years Telefoníca has worked, through its Purchasing Model, to professionalize the purchasing process, to promote equal opportunity through e-commerce, and to ensure that the company meets its payment commitments to suppliers.
