Towards a New Generation of Edge and Cloud

Session Description

Telefónica has launched in Spain a project inside the European IPCEI-CIS program for the Next Generation Edge and Cloud. The project will develop innovative technology and enablers for a telco-based Edge Computing Service (Telco Edge), perform a first industrial edge deployment and execute use cases in different verticals to validate the solution.

It is run in collaboration with other European operators and partners with the objective of providing a federated/multi-provider edge service based on secure and sustainable technology. The service will complement the current edge and cloud service portfolio and is a result of a collaborative effort at GSMA and other bodies (Linux Foundation, TMForum, 3GPP, ETSI…).

The session shows the project objectives and plan and describes how it fits in the current service offer, the industry ecosystem and Europe’s Digital Strategy objectives for 2030.
