Follow-up on 2008 targets

In 2008 Telefónica established environmental objectives in line with its environmental strategy. The table below shows progress made at global level, although Group companies also have individual environmental targets directly associated with their specific activities.


ENVIRONMENT


1. To design a standardised environmental management system for the entire Group, integrating fixed and wireless operationsBased on the ISO 14001 standard a global environmental management system was designed for the whole Telefónica Group100%



2. Climate change: to design a low-carbon procurement modelAs part of the Climate Change Office's action plan for Suppliers, a model that places the emphasis on the energy efficiency of equipment and products has been designed.100%

To standardise, define and implement environmental criteria in network roll-out.In 2008 standards were drawn up as part of the global environmental management system for implementation across all operations in 2009 and 2010. These address issues such as waste management, noise pollutions, etc.70%
