Efficient products and services

Under the Climate Change Office's action plan for Customers, ICT products and services are being develoepd that will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in other sectors of the economy in addition to telecommunications, including, for example, the Group's internet-connected home and telepresence services.

The aim of the Climate Change Office's action plan for Customers, which is led by the Corporate Marketing and Commercial Development Division, is to market ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) solutions that enable customers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by using Telefónica products and services.

Because of its direct link with the company's business activities, this is one of the most importance elements of the Climate Change Office's programme. And with good reason. ICTs' biggest achievement will be to increase energy efficiency in other sectors. This opportunity could give rise to carbon savings five times greater than total emissions in the entire ICT sector in 2020 (1).
