Renewable energy

Telefónica has renewable energy generation capacity of approximately 6.52 MWh. This constitutes the base line from which Telefónica is defining its 2009-2015 strategy for the use of technologies of this kind in the development of its network.

In line with the objectives set in the Climate Change Office's Operations plan of action, Telefónica is looking to foster the use of renewable energies as a sustainable energy solution for its networks.

In 2008 it carried out an analysis of its existing renewable energy systems and worked on the definition of company-specific indicators. At present, the company has 1,437 (1) solar energy projects, 188 hybrid solar-wind projects and ten fuel cell energy projects.
