ATAM, a corporate responsibility project shared between Telefónica and its employees
ATAM is a community project shared by the Telefónica Group and its employees (current employees, pensioners, and early-retirees) whose primary goal is improved prevention of disabilitating circumstances and to provide habilitating services aimed at socially integrating persons with disabilities.
ATAM was incorporated in 1973 as a non-profit entity and, by 1977, it had already been designated an organisation in the public interest.
At the end of 2008, the association had 58,226 members from 25 companies in the Group, and had received €14.2 million in contributions. (Each member contributes 0.2% of their monthly salary individually and the company donates another 0.4% for all employees.)
ATAM's social welfare system is a comprehensive model, the main focus of which is a programme of direct financial aid, advice, guidance and support in the face of any eventuality related to disability. This includes significant work to integrate this group of people into the labour market, through the Association's Employment Service and its Special Employment Centres.
