Global products and services development

This unit has as purpose to identify new products, services and applications, developing them once and for all the Telefónica markets. For it, Telefónica relies on the Competence Centers: global teams dedicated to the development of specific projects for each segment and type of service.


Some of the Products and Services launched in the year 2009 have been:


  1. M2M (Machine To Machine)

    2. Machine - machine (M2M) is a generic concept that indicates the exchange of information in data format between two remote machines, through a mobile or fixed network, without human intervention. Last December, the Company announced the creation of a M2M new global unit. Telefónica has been working in this area for more than 10 years.

    With this new unit, Telefónica answers to an increasing need of the corporations market for whom the environments machine - machine are highly critical: means of payment (terminal point of sale), tele-management and tele-measurement in the distribution of energy (water, light, etc.), safety and management of alarms, management of fleets, tele-medicine, automotion and emergencies and tele-maintenance of vending machines.


  2. MOVISTAR DEVELOPERS PLATFORM

    3. In 2009 was born in Mexico Movistar Developers Platform. It marks the Telefónica´s first step in the opening of its capacities to developers in Latin America.

    Telefónica has as fundamental aim for 2010 to integrate all the local communities in a global platform that provides to developers worldwide access to the markets in which Telefónica operates. In Movistar Developers Platform both developers and final clients take part:

    Developers: they use APIs to develop P&S of applications on our mobile network in Latin America. Their applications will be able to be commercialized to clients of Movistar in Mexico. They will have direct access to clients and obtain feedback of the market.

    Clients: in the App Store clients can enjoy our services, download applications and, in addition, try new developments before that nobody, interact with the developers and participates in tests of new products and services.


  3. APPLICATION STORE/APPLICATION FOLDER

    4. Application Store is the shop of applications launched already by Telefónica in Argentina and Spain. An environment where our clients can download applications so much in the mobile, PC and, in a future, in TV.
    The evolution of the Store is the Application Folder that allows, through a terminal, to manage, organize, seek and recommend applications and services from our shop.


  4. CLOUD SERVICES

    5. The Telefónica cloud offer is adapted to each of the segments in which the Group is present. It possesses already services on the market, so much for SMEs, Corporations and Residential segment. In 2009, was launched in Spain the service of storage "Terabox", which will be exported to other regions, as well as the service "Aplicateca", an environment of aggregation and management of applications, orientated to SMEs.

    Besides, Telefónica has been working in the best solutions of Hosting and Storage for our Corporate clients, offering services in Cloud that fit their needs.
